We believe in a holistic, comprehensive, and fun approach — one that engages both middle school students and their communities.
With our integrated and multi-component approach to sexuality education, Projet Jeune Leader goes beyond serving individual students to influencing the educational systems in which they learn.

We train the health care providers from our partner clinics in strategies to communicate effectively and respectfully with adolescent clients.
HEALTH CARE PROVIDER WORKSHOPS
Our Educators teach weekly classes to all 6th and 8th grade classes in their assigned school. They apply an activity-based, participatory pedagogy to cover 27 different topics over the course of a school year. Our classes are formally time-tabled into students’ schedules and do not add to their school day; rather, they fill otherwise unsupervised and unproductive hours resulting from a lack of teachers and classrooms in the public-school system.
COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION CLASSES
Students can sign up for individual or
group sessions with Projet Jeune Leader Educators to discuss any personal concerns and receive advice. Through partnerships with local health clinics, the Educators can refer students who require medical care.
We run regular community awareness campaigns on two pressing issues affecting adolescents in Madagascar: menstrual health and hygiene and gender-based violence. These events are also opportunities to share our approach to comprehensive sexuality education with the general public.
Our Educators share their favorite hobbies with students during weekly after-school activities.
We build a one-room classroom in each of partner schools which serve as a safe and youth-friendly recreational space on school grounds. Open daily, students have access to books, games, and educational resources. Our classes also take place here!
We lead workshops with parents on the importance of comprehensive sexuality education and on adolescent sexual-reproductive health.
