Vahinala Raharinirina

Dr. Baomiavotse Vahinala Raharinirina formerly served as Madagascar’s Minister of Environment. Since 2025, she has served as Vice President of the University of Fianarantsoa, where she oversees International Relations, Partnerships, and Sustainability.
She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, as well as a postgraduate degree in Ecological Economics and Sustainable Development from the same institution, and a Master’s degree in Economics and Management from the Catholic University of Madagascar.
She is an Associate Professor at the University of Fianarantsoa (Madagascar) and a Senior Fellow at FERDI/University of Clermont-Ferrand (France). She has been teaching since 2003 at various higher education institutions in Madagascar and France.
Dr. Raharinirina is also an international expert in environmental governance, biodiversity, climate change, and green diplomacy.
